By Ray Monk 9332F is a Ford Transit Connect van in TfL livery, seen at Stratford Market Depot on 13th August 2025. Alongside was LUL VW Transporter minibus 8245VW, one of a pair (with 8244VW, which was also nearby) that have been based here since new in February 2017 but which have managed to avoid being photographed. |

By Ray Monk 9223F seen at Stratford Market Depot on 13th August is one of the TfL Ford Transit Connect crew vans that were registered in Yorkshire rather than in London. On the right is a VW Caddy Maxi crew van that appears to be in unmarked white. This could have been one of 8930VW/8931VW. |

By Ray Monk Totally devoid of any markings (apart from just one 'speed limit' label), it would be easy to miss this vehicle. However, thanks to the lists that we used to receive from LUL, we know that this VW Transporter minibus is actually fleet number 8933VW. Several anonymous vehicles have been based at Stratford Market in recent years, although we don't know why. An LUL VW Transporter crew van is on the left, a VW Crafter in fron and a TfL Ford Transit Connect crew van on the right. Stratford Market Depot, 13th August 2025. |

By Ray Monk Ford Transit dropside truck 8466F was photographed at a dealership prior to delivery to London in 2017 (see photo), but it was not caught again until Ray found it at Stratford Market Depot on 13th August 2025. By Ray Monk Six VW Crafter crew vans are based at Stratford Market Depot, while three plain vans are at Hainault. All have white livery with no skirt or stripes, and all were delivered with LUL roundels on the front and sides. 9146VW, seen at Stratford Market on 13th August 2025, still has these, while 9147VW alongside has gained TfL blue roundels. |

By Ray Monk Another TfL Ford Transit Connect at Stratford Market Depot on 13th August, 9305F is an example of the short van, which is outnumbered by the longer variant and crew vans. It had not been seen since it passed through Acton Works when new in October 2024. Alongside is VW Crafter crew van 9147VW, which (as noted recently) now carries TfL plain blue roundels. |

By Ray Monk There are at least 49 TfL service vehicles with registrations in the LD24O** series, all being Ford Transit Connect crew vans numbered between 9169F and 9219F. A recently acquired fleetlist (that showed fleetnumbers but not registrations) suggests that there are a further 30 Transit Connects that have yet to be seen. 9173F was seen at Stratford Market Depot on 13th August 2025, parked next to identical 9178F. |

By Ray Monk Stratford Market Depot is home to around 100 service vehicles, but it is almost impossible to see any of them from outside. This explains why there have not been any photos on LTSV until now, and also why some die-hard SV fans find it profitable to stand on Cam Road during the night-time run-outs. Thanks to his inside connections, Ray finally managed to get permission to visit the depot on 13th August 2025, and to photograph many of the vehicles in the large yard. Over 40 of the TfL livery Ford Transit Connect vans are believed to be based here, including 9174F seen here. The allocation still includes some of the older Renault Kangoo and VW Caddy vans, like 8906VW visible in the background. |

The location is still very active though, and it is not yet clear where all its functions would be moved to. By Peter Terry On 28th July 2025, Transport UK Enviro 200 bus 8201 broke-down just outside West Croydon Bus Station, blocking the tram track and causing a lot of disruption. The engineers from Beddington Cross garage were soon on the scene, using Peugeot Expert van KV69NNP. Notably, this seems to be the first of the van fleet to have its Abellio logos replaced with Transport UK ones, even though the company changed names over a year ago (in spring 2024). |

By Andrew Colebourne This Isuzu Forward box truck has featured on LTSV before (see photo from June 2024), when it had lettering for Balfour Beatty Integrated Track Team, along with small LUL roundels. Since then the markings on LN20YLP have been changed to plain TfL ones, rather like the current standard fleet livery. Although it now looks like a 'proper' service vehicle, it is not clear if the vehicle is actually operated directly by TfL. On 13th July 2025 it was found parked at Chigwell Station during engineering work, along with LUL mobile office WX08KUY. Note the tail-lift at the rear with handrails and what appears to be a set of access steps. |

By Andrew Lidinson Go-Ahead London has almost 60 Mercedes Vito minibuses for use as crew ferry vehicles, but has not added any new examples since autumn 2021. In this photo taken at Croydon (C) Garage on 10th July 2025, Vito RK68GVZ is on the right, while on the left is FV25UXU, one of a pair of Ford Tourneo Connect minibuses now also used as crew ferries (the other was FV25UZD in unmarked black). It is possible that these were hired just for the busy summer season, when Go-Ahead runs special services to events such as the Wimbledon Tennis and Hampton Court Flower Show. Back on 26th June 2025, Dave found Ford Transit crew van 8650F at Westbourne Park. The brick building behind is the lower part of Westbourne Park bus garage, while the ramped roadway behind the van leads to a railway aggregates depot and a Network Rail track access point (note the road-rail hydraulic hoist behind the van). By Peter Terry LC66FKH is a Renault Kangoo van that has been with Ensignbus since at least late 2018 and possibly since it was new in late 2016. It has recently been given large Engineering Support lettering along with a yellow safety stripe, and it was seen at Canning Town Bus Station on 21st June 2025. The buses in the background are of some interest. Behind the van is Ensignbus 605 (YJ13HKE), an Optare Versa recently acquired from Warrington and still in their red and blue livery. It was being used on DLR replacement services. On the left is Go-Ahead London LT915 in the East London Transit livery meant for routes EL1, EL2 and EL3, although it was here working on trunk route 5. |

By Kim Rennie The delivery of nearly 300 new small vans over the past year and a bit has seen the departure of many 66 and 17 registered vans, although there seems to have been a change in policy to also replace the remaining cars in the fleet (even though these were mainly hybrids and generally relatively young). As such, there are still a lot of 7-8 year old vans in service. 8548R is a Renault Kangoo Maxi new in November 2017 and a regular night-time visitor to Baker Street Station. It would appear that it has been used by the same member of staff throughout, since it can sometimes be seen during the day parked near Leytonstone Station, as here on 14th June 2025. |

By Derek Everson Yet another Falcon Vauxhall Corsa van at Byfleet on 8th June 2025, this one has been included for its unusual registration. BGZ4790 is a Northern Ireland mark, and these are often used to personalise (or disguise the age of) vehicles on the mainland. In this instance, the registration is original and has been carried since it was new in April 2016. The last V5C was issued in April 2025, and the tax expired at the end of that month, so it was presumably out of use when seen. |

By Derek Everson Another recent addition to the Falcon Buses/Coaches support fleet is Vauxhall Corsa van WN66CSX, seen at Byfleet on 8th June 2025. By Derek Everson Discounting company takeovers, second-life service vehicles are rare but not unheard of. The latest example is Ford Fiesta van LL17TXN, which is now with Falcon Buses and was photographed at their Byfleet base on 8th June 2025. The blue skirt is a hint to its previous role as fleetnumber 8427F with LUL. The red stripe and lettering has been removed, and it now has Falcon logos on the sides. This vehicle illustrates a problem we have in obtaining information about service vehicles. In the absence of official information, we rely a lot on DVLA data, including dates of V5Cs. These are normally issued each time a vehicle changes hands, but can also be issued for other reasons. With 8427F, a new V5C was issued in May 2022, from which we deduced that the van had been withdrawn. However, it was then seen still in service with LUL. Even stranger, we now know that it has definitely left the LUL fleet, yet it has not had a new V5C or a change of licensing date. Perhaps it is still owned by the same leasing company? |

By Derek Everson London United (along with London Sovereign and London Transit) was sold by RATP to First recently, the sale being completed on 28th February 2025. Within a couple of months, virtually all of the buses had received new 'first bus' logos, as seen here on E200 BE37048 at Fulwell Garage on 24th May 2025. For the crew ferry cars, it seems that the old RATP logos are being removed but not replaced. Dacia Sandero cars D75114 (MJ69ZBU) and D75110 (MJ69ZKV) are both now anonymous, apart from fleetnumbers. Note that the car on the left also has the number 3 in the side windows. This was a 'local' fleetnumber applied while it was based at Park Royal. |

By Ray Monk The lorry yard at Acton Works was vacated at the start of May 2025, with the larger vehicles now kept in what used to be the DSM Van Yard within the works. This is a shame, in that it will no longer be possible to easily see the vehicles from passing trains. On the other hand, the new location does offer some new opportunities for photographs of line-ups without fences getting in the way. On 24th May 2025, the vehicles present included (left to right) hired DAF flatbed NC14NDC (which has been in use for about 4 years), Volvo FMX curtainsider KM72XPV (which I noticed has no operator lettering on its cab), MAN TGM demountable LV66XYD, Volvo FMX flatbed KY23LNO and MAN TGM dropside RK14ETT. |

By Ray Monk A bit posher than most crew ferry cars is this Audi A4 Sport estate, photographed on 1st May 2025 at Bexleyheath Bus Stand. The location means this is almost certainly from Arriva London's Dartford Garage. Arriva's presence in this area is declining, with double-deck routes 99, 269 and 401 all lost to Go-Ahead London from 18th January 2025. Single-deck route B15 follows suit from January 2026, which will leave the 301 as the only Arriva route to terminate in Bexleyheath (the 229 and 492 pass through). Go-Ahead has a batch of Wright StreetDeck Electroliners on order for the routes won, but is using elderly E-class Enviro 400s and WVL-class Volvo B9TLs (like those in the background) until charging facilities are installed. By Thomas Young Another photo that is more for information than for quality! Two TfL-branded Ford Transit Connect vans were delivered to London Overground in 2024 but they took some time to positively identify. Both are normally kept in the car park at Silwood Triangle, between the railway lines to Queens Road Peckham and New Cross, and they could often be seen from passing trains but always seemed to be parked in the wrong position to get their numbers. Eventually, on 1st April 2025, I took my super zoom camera to the parallel Somerfield Street and (fortunately) found the vans parked side-on. 9358F on the left is a crew van, while 9290F on the right is a plain van. By Thomas Young A surprise find at Tufnell Park Depot on 1st April 2025 was 9460F, the first full-sized Ford Transit added to the central fleet since 2021. It had the new TfL livery of plain white but it also had yellow 'safety' stripes along the waist. We had expected some full-sized vans would be added in due course, though no more have been reported as of mid-June. Perhaps 9460F is a one-off, with specialised interior fit for its role with the power supply section. Also visible are Ford Transit van 8859F (which is a one-off) and Renault Kangoo Maxi van 8855R, while on the right was a trailer belonging to a provider of confined space training. This is likely to be a factor in the work of the power supply department, who may need to access underground cabling conduits and tunnels. |

By Thomas Young This photo was taken for information rather than for publication, though it turns out to be slightly interesting. It is a zoom shot looking through the doorway of Potters Bar Garage on 1st April 2025, and it shows a Dynes Recovery DAF named Ali. AY74UJV has not appeared on LTSV before. The bus behind is Optare Solo OS68, which was new to Arriva the Shires as their 2468 in 2006. It passed to Arriva London as their OS68 in 2016, following company reorganisation, although it continued to be used on Hampstead Garden Suburb route H2. When that route was re-tendered to Metroline, OS68 was loaned to Metroline, pending the delivery of new Optare Solos. It was then retained to act as a spare, and was eventually bought by Metroline in November 2018, although it was not given a new fleetnumber in the Metroline series. In early 2022 it moved to Potters Bar for use on commercial routes (such as the 242, 305 and PB1). By 2025, only the PB1 remained, and OS68 only saw use as a back-up to electric Optare MetroCity OEM2750. Although no longer in TfL service, it was by then effectively the oldest bus still in passenger use with a 'red' London bus operator. The contract for route PB1 passed to Uno from 31st March, and OS68 was no longer needed. When seen the next day (1st April 2025), it was about to be towed away to the Hayes storage site, pending disposal. OEM2750 was also parked-up in the front yard, with its electronic destination display still on and programmed to show 'For sale'! |

By Thomas Young Due to its rather remote location, Metroline's Potters Bar garage needs quite a lot of crew ferry vehicles, and this photo shows a further three that were seen on 1st April 2025. Nearest the camera is Ford Puma car AV74ONT, new at the end of 2024. Beyond are a pair of Ford Transit Custom minibuses, AV72UCO and AY71JDZ. In the background are three different buses. On the left is OME2669, an Optare MetroDecker electric. All 28 of Metroline's MetroDeckers are based here, although they appear to have reliability issues, with a number off the road at any given time. In the middle is Enviro 400 TE903 dating from 2008 and now demoted to training work, with a lime green 'wrap' to advertise for driver recruitment. At the back is WDE2769, a Wrightbus StreetDeck Electroliner. This was the first WDE for Metroline and has been at Potters Bar since new in late 2022. Many more WDEs have been delivered since and, although none were ordered for PB routes, four further examples of the type are currently based here pending the completion of electrical infrastructure at other garages. |

By Thomas Young Another minibus photographed at Potters Bar Garage on 1st April 2025 was Renault Trafic MD23RHZ in unmarked maroon. Unlike other crew ferry vehicles here, it had a 'duty' number on a paper in the windscreen (892). New in autumn 2023, it was initially used by Brentford Garage (and possibly also Perivale West) before moving to Potters Bar by the end of that year. I wish I had waited for the shadow-casting bus to move now... |

By Ray Monk Two new Ford Tourneo Custom electric minibuses were delivered to Metroline in March 2025 and allocated to Potters Bar Garage. They are registered AY25JBU and AY25JCU, which could be confusing, although perhaps no more so than the vehicles that they replaced - AY21KFT and AY21KKT! New AY25JBU was caught leaving the garage on 1st April 2025. |

By Ray Monk The first 25-registration service vehicles to be reported where a pair of minibuses for Metroline's Potters Bar Garage that were delivered in March 2025. As with earlier vehicles there, no lettering is carried, but the new ones are white as opposed to the normal red. Both are Ford Tourneo Custom electric minibuses, with a revised grille design. They are also to the revised, slightly more angular, Custom design. This was introduced in 2023 but the only other applications as London SVs so far have been a few hired minibuses at Go-Ahead London's Henley Road Garage. AY25JCU was photographed being charged-up in the front yard of Potters Bar Garage on 1st April 2025. |

By Thomas Young This is the location which we have called Royal Oak Elizabeth Line. It has two parts, one on each side of Lord Hills Bridge. The yard to the east (opposite the Hammersmith & City line station platforms) has been shown on LTSV before, but now appears to be out of use. The yard to the west of the bridge contains a building, visible on the right here, which is actually atop the portals where the Elizabeth Line tracks emerge from the tunnel section. It also has a parking area which contained (on 1st April 2025) Elizabeth Line liveried Ford Transit crew van 8646F and TfL-branded Renault Kangoo electric crew van 9440R, plus a couple of hired or contractor's vehicles. This view was obtained by peering over the wall from the section of Harrow Road that is beneath the A40 Westway, but there is also a gated gap in the wall nearby, from which you can see into the yard. In the background are the Great Western mainline tracks out of Paddington. Interestingly, vehicular access to this yard is via a roadway that runs parallel to the railway almost as far as Paddington itself. |

By Ray Monk TfL has sold off part of the former car park at Wembley Station, and new flats are currently being built there. This means that the remaining parking area can no longer be seen, either from the station or from the parallel Brook Avenue. However, it is still accessible on foot, and there are two newish vans based there. Seen on 1st April 2025 was TfL branded Ford Transit Connect van 9295F. This is presumed to be the replacement for LUL liveried Toyota Prius+ car 8692T. |

By Dave Wolstencroft One more TfL Ford Transit Connect near Griffith House on the night of 31st March 2025. 9395F is one of the shorter variant, referred to as L1H1 compared to L2H1. There are no height options on the current Ford Transit Connect model, but the standard designators include the H indicator anyway. |

By Dave Wolstencroft You might not see this one coming! The 200-odd Ford Transit Connect vans delivered since Spring 2024 are very uniform in their appearance, the only variety being in their configuration (van or crew van), length and fittings (e.g. roof racks). Actually, that is not completely true, since van 9313F lacks the blue roundel on the bonnet. Although not clear in this photo (taken outside Griffith House on the night of 31st March 2025), the sides do have the normal TfL lettering. |

By Dave Wolstencroft The night-time congregations at Griffith House are now dominated by TfL-liveried Ford Transit Connect vans (and crew vans), with just a few LUL-livery Renault Kangoos still to be seen. On the night of 31st March 2025, Dave photographed crew van 9235F on Harcourt Street. This is one of 24 of the type to have Yorkshire registrations, the majority having London ones. |

By Derek Everson Reading Buses is one of very few operators to remain in public ownership. It is also unusual for making extensive use of route branding, to the extent that most routes have buses in a totally different livery to others. This can be seen on the blue, purple and orange buses in the background. The service vehicle fleet tends to be in a neutral white livery, as seen on Ford Transit Custom Van HY65AUU, photographed at Reading Station on 15th February 2025. This photo has also been added to today's batch so that I can mention that there will be an open day at Reading Buses' Great Knollys Street Depot on Sunday 29th June 2025. |

By John Scotford Just one 'oldie' this month, the subject being Docklands Light Railway Emergency Response van 001, a Ford Transit Mk7 van registered BV13UGP. This van has been shown on LTSV before, and has also appeared in model form. This photo, taken at Canning Town Station on 19th October 2013, shows that it had Serco lettering when new (in August 2013). The contract for running the DLR passed to Keolis Amey in December 2014, and the lettering on the van was suitably amended. |

By Dave Wolstencroft Another TfL Renault Kangoo was found by Dave on the last day of March 2025, when he came across 9403R in the lower bus station at Hammersmith. It has chevrons on the back and a safety stripe on the sides and was in use by London Buses staff. What I thought was interesting about this was that the lettering on the rear includes 'Highway Maintenance'. This has been seen in the past on service vehicles (such as those operated by TfL Streets), but I think its use on LBSL vehicles is new. Looking at photos suggests that it might be being applied as standard to any vehicles that get rear chevrons, but (as with so many things) more observations are required. Note the curious passer-by! |

By Malcolm Millichip Previously shown when brand-new and unlettered, Ford Transit Courier Mk2 van AV24TGF has now gained Metroline lettering and been allocated to Brentford Garage. It was seen nearby on 30th March 2025 outside the London Museum of Water & Steam (formerly Kew Bridge Steam Museum). My unscientific observations on the streets of London suggest that the revised Transit Courier model is selling much better than its predecessor. |

By Derek Everson Buses within the town of Swindon were run by Swindon Corporation, which became Thamesdown Transport in 1974. Many municipal operators were sold in the years following deregulation in 1986, but Thamesdown remained council-owned for much longer, eventually being bought by the Go-Ahead group in February 2017. The branding of the operation was changed to 'Swindon's Bus Company' with a new livery of blue and green in varying layouts. Derek visited the garage in Swindon on 30th March 2025 and found two service vehicles present. Mercedes Sprinter van BJ60VNU carried fleetnumber 9103 and had the vertically divided livery as also worn by some of the buses (including the Enviro 400 just visible on the right). Alongside was Ford Transit Connect van 9066 HG61OHD in a more restrained overall dark blue scheme. The registration BJ60VNU rang a tiny bell in my memory and I found that Derek had photographed it at Eastleigh way back in July 2013, when it was all white and lettered for Hants & Dorset Trim. The latter company had been bought by Go-Ahead in February 2006. I then realised that HG61OHD had already been shown on LTSV, being photographed at the same location in 2021. |

By Peter Terry Not previously shown on LTSV, FL23JBZ is one of several Vauxhall Combo vans added to the Arriva London fleet during 2023. It was initially based at the shared Ash Grove garage but moved to Stamford Hill when the latter re-opened in February 2024. On 29th March 2025 it was found at Finsbury Park Bus Station, possibly attending to an issue on Stamford Hill's LT344 parked behind. |

By Peter Terry The most notable aspect of Transport UK Vauxhall Astra car 6887, seen at Beddington Plough on 28th March 2025, it its registration number ASZ5553. This is a Northern Ireland registration, and there have been a few carried by London service vehicles over the years. They are sometimes applied to replace existing registrations, either to disguise the vehicle age or to add personalisation. However, in this instance, the plate has been carried since the car was new in 2017. |

By Dave Wolstencroft In early March I saw a new TfL Renault Kangoo electric crew van passing through Abbey Wood, though I could not tell if it was being used by London Buses or by the Elizabeth Line. The matter was settled when Dave visited the latter's Plumstead Depot on 20th March 2025 and found no fewer than 8 new vans present. He returned a week later (27th March) and took this photo of consecutively numbered 9454R and 9455R. They were in the main car park rather than in the van yard and, although this is also now fenced off from the main road, the mesh of the fence does allow cameras to see through. The new vans have replaced all but one of the VW Caddy Maxi crew vans that formed part of the initial Elizabeth Line fleet. |

By Peter Terry This TfL Ford Transit Connect van was delivered in spring 2024 and was seen at Acton Works on multiple occasions through the rest of that year and into 2025. However, on 26th March 2025 it turned up at West Croydon Bus Station, suggesting that it was in use with London Buses (LBSL). It could be that the generic livery now carried is allowing vehicles to be used on a sort of pool basis, switching between operations as required. |

By Dave Wolstencroft The Elizabeth Line has an Incident Response vehicle stationed at Whitechapel Station. Until recently, this was a Renault Kangoo that was kept in a small yard off Durward Street just east of the station. However, from early 2025 this disappeared, to be replaced by a hired Mercedes Vito van that is kept in a different small yard nearby but on the west of the station (and seemingly part of the Whitechapel Sports Centre). EN22AZT, photographed on 20th March 2025, has lettering on labels. As well as the mirrored Incident Response on the front, it has a large Elizabeth Line roundel and more lettering on the sides. |

By Peter Terry The LUL office at Barking Station was reported to be affected by the closure of Wakering Road for a while in late 2024, meaning that vehicles could not access the small yard and hence had to be kept elsewhere. The yard was back in use by March 2025, as shown in this photo taken on the 10th. It would appear that the allocation of vehicles was also changed at the same time. It is still all Volkswagens, but some of the 87xxVW numbered examples seem to have been replaced by slightly younger 89xxVW vehicles. By Ray Monk Some of the recently delivered Ford and Renault vans have this variant of the new TfL livery, with a yellow 'safety' stripe along each side, plus chevrons on the rear. By Ray Monk Assuming that the fleetnumbers are being allocated in blocks, it looks as though there will have been about 40 new Renault Kangoo diesel vans delivered in late-2024 (perhaps 9398R to 9437R). By Ray Monk The TfL vehicle allocated to Blackwall, Naval Row (beside the northern portals of the Blackwall Tunnel) had been Toyota Yaris car 9111T from 2020 until late-2024. There was then a short gap during which a hired vehicle was used, before the arrival of new Renault Kangoo electric crew van 9439R in February 2025. By Ray Monk Early 2025 saw the arrival of several Renault Kangoo electric crew vans for TfL, the fleetnumbers suggesting that there may be as many as 20 (9439R to 9458R). They are being allocated to various users though all carry the same TfL lettering. 9453R was seen at Acton Works on 22nd February 2025, with a charging cable plugged into the socket concealed by the Renault logo in the front grille. It was in the area used by some LBSL vehicles (such as the VW Crafter van on the left), though as can be seen, there are also LUL vehicles here, so it is not clear who is using the new van. |

By Jon Pye Capturing LUL lorries on the move is quite rare, but to catch two on the move together is almost unheard of. On 21st February 2025 Jon Pye managed it with this pair seen leaving Ruislip Depot and about to pass Ruislip Gardens station. Both are MAN TGM demountable lorries in LUL livery, LV66XYD from 2016 leading one year younger WU67AJX. Both had flatbed bodies that had started out as dropsides. The numbers are not visible but I reckon that they are DB13 on LV66XYD and DB10 (without the wheel cut-outs) following on WU67AJX. |

By Jon Pye The only vehicular access to the huge LUL depot at Ruislip is via a long access road that eventually comes out onto West End Road at the point where it passes under the railway tracks close to Ruislip Gardens Station. I know from experience that you can wait a long time here and not see any service vehicles at all. On 21st February 2025, Jon was very lucky, although I believe some 'inside knowledge' was also involved! First to appear was Renault T-series artic LT73HKJ of Evenheights. It was pulling a Nooteboom extendable trailer loaded with rails. This is similar to LUL's T80, although it would appear to be somewhat shorter when un-extended. |
