Prior to the arrival of the Mercedes-Benz demountable trucks, the emergency response fleet was based on Ford A and D series lorries. In this photograph taken at Ealing Common depot in late 1990, Ford D0710 2139F in a slightly weathered red livery is parked next to one of its replacements. This vehicle was withdrawn in 1991.
